What is complex care?
Complex care is specialist support for people whose needs go beyond what standard home care can safely cover. It is designed for people living with long-term health conditions, neurological conditions, acquired injuries or progressive illnesses — where clinical knowledge, specialist equipment and careful coordination are part of the picture every single day.
It is not the same as residential nursing care. It is care delivered at home, by trained carers working under proper clinical oversight, with a support plan built around the person's specific needs, routines and goals.
Complex care is sometimes called continuing care or high-dependency home care. Whatever you call it, the principle is the same: people with significant health needs deserve to remain at home if that is where they want to be.

Who is complex care for?
Complex care is right for people whose needs require more than a standard care package. This typically includes people living with:
- Acquired brain injury (ABI)
- Spinal cord injury
- Motor neurone disease (MND)
- Multiple sclerosis (MS)
- Stroke with ongoing complex needs
- Advanced Parkinson's disease
- Neurological conditions requiring clinical intervention at home
- Conditions requiring specialist equipment such as PEG feeding, catheter care or tracheostomy support
- End-of-life care with complex symptom management
This list is not exhaustive. If someone's needs require specialist training, clinical oversight or careful coordination with other health professionals, it is likely to fall under complex care. The right starting point is a conversation with us.

How we approach complex care.
Complex care is our strategic growth area, and we have built our capacity carefully. That means investing in the right training and clinical competencies, working closely with professionals who refer into complex packages, and never taking on a placement we are not genuinely equipped to support.
Every complex care package starts with a thorough assessment. We involve the person, their family and the clinical professionals already in the picture. We build a detailed support plan, identify the right carers and ensure they have the training and supervision they need before care begins.
We stay closely involved throughout. Our team monitors each package, communicates regularly with families and professionals, and responds promptly when needs change. Complex care requires the same continuity and consistency we bring to every package we deliver — and we take that seriously.
We also work with local authority and NHS commissioners. If funding through Continuing Healthcare (CHC) is a route that might be available, we can help navigate that process.
