A sit-in is exactly what it sounds like. One of our carers comes and sits with your loved one, for a set number of hours, so that you don't have to be the only person there for them.
It's not always about hands-on personal care. Often it's companionship, conversation, a familiar face doing a puzzle or watching television together, someone there to notice if help is needed, prompt a meal or a drink, and keep things calm and safe. For other families, it's a bit more, help getting to the bathroom, a light meal prepared, medication prompted at the right time. We shape it around what's actually needed.
A familiar face, for as long as you need.

If what's needed is closer to hands-on personal care through the day, our Live-In Care or visiting care packages may be a better fit. A sit-in is best understood as company and light support, not full personal care.
Before our first visit, we talk to you about what a good few hours actually looks like for your loved one. What do they enjoy? What unsettles them? What should the carer know before they walk through the door? A sit-in only works if the person feels comfortable, not supervised.
Where we can, we send the same carer for repeat sit-ins, so it becomes a visit from someone familiar rather than a stranger arriving each time. You'll always know who is coming and when, and you can leave the house, or simply have the house to yourself for a while, knowing things are genuinely in hand.
